Josef Eschner

Born in Vienna 1894, he learned the taylor`s handicraft and led a lady dress salon. Also as musician with his own saloon orchestra he was known through Vienna`s dancehalls.

1928 he works as calculation clerk for airplane components at the Lohner-company and spent his free time with the development of safe parachutes.

1929 he invented the "Rollfallschirm", with which his friend and test pilot Karl SIMANDL in 1938 set up the world record for the “LOWEST EVER AIRJUMP” out of only 45m height.

His patents affected the development of smaller, faster opening rescue parachutes. His first guidable delta chute in 1937 influenced the technical developement of chutes very much, but because of WWII. it went into series in years later, in 1954.
