After the war private glider-flying began with the 1st Austrian Glider-flight-week in October 1923 on the Waschberg at Stockerau. Seven Austrian and six German airplanes participated.

One of the most important glider pilots was Robert KRONFELD, who achieved as a pioneer. 1928 he set up - Rhön elevator record at 540 meters. 1929 he succeeded to fly over the Rax (2007m).

1931 he was the first pilot, who crossed the channel England/France on one day twice. At the end of the war he had to emigrate to England, where he died years later at an aircraft crash.
